Project Vertigo

Role: Lead Visual Designer, Identity Specialist
Scope: Logo Evolution, Visual Storytelling, Modular Identity System

Overview:
Project Vertigo started as a request to refine an already intriguing but loosely formed logo exploration. My role was to take the client's initial ideation—rooted in geometric symbols and subtle alchemical references—and push it into a more readable, scalable, and lore-infused identity.

Design Process:
The early mark iterations explored abstracted religious geometry and symbolism. My approach introduced a clearer visual hierarchy and focal point, evolving the design with contrast mechanics: first through length, then width, and eventually scale and positioning. The final lockup emphasizes modularity, improved legibility, and symbolic resonance through a centralized, geometric “V” that subtly fuses the ideas of infinity, alchemy, and directional push (vertigo as both sensation and journey).

Key Concepts Developed:

  • Centralized visual gravity using the rule of thirds

  • Abstract infinity loop merged with an arrow motif

  • Medical/alchemical symbol references to evoke thematic lore

  • Iterative logo architecture allowing for icon, badge, and wordmark versatility

Takeaway:
By refining the visual center and playing with typographic weight and balance, we created a scalable system that reflects the project’s thematic goals: mystery, movement, and metaphysical inquiry.

The Tower

Balancing bold, eye-catching visuals with practical functionality required innovative thinking and a deep understanding of both form and function, the goal was to sprint the design for The Tower in 48 hours right after creating the brand kit for Project Vertigo.

Role: Identity Designer, Motion & Layout Artist
Scope: Logo Development, Symbolic System Design, Promo Graphic Execution

Overview:
The Tower draws direct inspiration from the Tarot’s 16th Major Arcana, a symbol of upheaval, revelation, and forced transformation. In this project, I was tasked with distilling that chaos into an identity that could feel modern, modular, and spiritually loaded—blending esoteric themes with futurist UI styling. The final result is a logo system that bridges metaphysical ideas with gaming and experiential media aesthetics.

Design Process:
We began by iterating through literal and abstracted silhouettes of a tower, pulling from brutalist architecture and ancient iconography. From there, the visual system evolved through studies in typography and shape, arriving at a soft-edged, modernist wordmark contrasted against a glyphic, modular icon. The circular dot and angular line nod to both a human figure under duress and the cosmological "as above, so below" duality—an intentional reference to alchemy’s transformational journey.

As Tarot lore suggests, the Tower is destruction that births clarity. I embedded this tension by balancing form (tower structure) with energy (kinetic layouts and glowing promo assets). The icon is both a warning and a call to transcend.

Key Concepts Developed:

  • Tarot symbolism as foundational theme (Major Arcana XVI)

  • Alchemical reference through implied transformation, duality, and icon balance

  • Modular “T” glyph hinting at collapse and ascent simultaneously

  • Rounded techno-type for softened UX readability

  • Final neon promo graphic evoking an energy surge—shattering and illuminating

Takeaway:
The Tower is a story in symbol form: a visual system that mirrors Tarot’s arc of chaos and rebirth, alchemy’s ambition for transformation, and the clean affordances of future-forward design.

The Tower: Final Version

The Tower was a fast-moving brand identity project for an interactive narrative world. Inspired by both tarot symbolism and cybernetic worlds, the design direction needed to land somewhere between mythic abstraction and modernist legibility.

The final promo graphic was designed as a visceral visual climax—a literal lightning strike moment. Channeling the Tarot’s apocalyptic energy, I used glitch textures, high-contrast overlays, and glowing cyan tones to simulate rupture, impact, and divine interruption. The fractured textures and electric blue glow bring the glyph and wordmark to life, casting the logo as both beacon and warning. It’s not just branding—it’s a signal flare in the dark, capturing the chaotic brilliance of The Tower in motion.
