VRChat: Space Jam
2025 Space Jam — VRChat
This year’s Space Jam in VRChat brought together the platform’s top creators and fans for an intergalactic, community-driven world creation celebration. The event featured a space vessel carrying the winners bracket blending competitive spirit with VRChat’s awe-inspiring, world-building culture.

As part of the Experience Design effort, I shipped a full suite of UI/UX assets for both in-game and broadcast use, ensuring every bracket update, score change, and victory moment felt cohesive with the event’s cosmic theme. I designed a winners graphic along with UI assets featured on the VRC menu, my work aimed to keep participants and spectators oriented, engaged, and excited for this competition.

Typography & Iconography Refresh (Image 1)
For the 2025 Space Jam kit, I started by revisiting last year’s assets and revamping the typography to create a sharper, more legible identity. I explored multiple font weights and treatments to strike the right balance between futuristic precision and playful approachability.
From there, I tackled the event iconography, building around powerful symbology that instantly resonates: a planet as the anchor, and a paintbrush cleverly reimagined as a rocket ship. The brush’s tip doubles as a booster, with a sweeping paint contrail forming Saturn-like rings—symbolizing creativity, movement, and the act of creating worlds. This fusion of science and artistry visually tells Space Jam’s story in a single glance.

Event Branding & Winners Showcase (Image 2)
With the core identity locked in, I shifted into applying it across the winners bracket and promotional graphics. I wanted to give the top 3 winners a striking front-page presence, so I built a dramatic 3D space deck environment entirely from commercially approved Adobe Stock photography—no AI generation—to ensure both authenticity and licensing compliance.
The layouts balance the VRChat brand identity with the Space Jam aesthetic, keeping a scientific elegance while still feeling celebratory. The refreshed logo integrates seamlessly into a clean, rectangular frame, replacing the previous rhombus lockup for better readability across digital and in-world placements.

UI Assets & In-Game Thumbnails (Image 3)
The final phase was producing in-game UI assets that felt instantly connected to the rest of the kit. Using the iconography and typography established earlier, I wove in subtle space imagery—again sourced from Adobe Stock under commercial license—to create banners, overlays, and navigation elements that felt cohesive and immersive.
For the official hub thumbnail, I collaborated with the world creator, who provided in-game photography of the space environment. With my experience producing high-impact thumbnails for VR creators like Artsy Glitch and Wispy Woo, I knew exactly how to push the branding here—layering in the established logo, color palette, and design motifs to make the hub instantly recognizable in VRChat’s world listings.
